Measuring and access guide

Most delivery problems are access problems, and they are avoidable. Spend five minutes with a tape measure before ordering larger furniture.

Measure the item. Every product page lists width, depth and height. Note the largest of those figures — that is the number that has to fit.

  • The front door, and any communal door on the way in
  • Every internal doorway on the route
  • The narrowest point of the hallway
  • Stairwells: width, and the diagonal at any turn or half-landing
  • Ceiling height on the stairs, and any low beam or light fitting
  • Lifts, if the item is going above ground level — including the door aperture

Corners are the real constraint. A sofa passes a turn on its diagonal, not its width. Measure the diagonal of the tightest corner.

Sofas and corner suites. Check whether the model has removable feet or a split back — where it does, the product page says so, and it changes what will fit.

Beds. Measure the assembled frame, and check the room allows the mattress to be manoeuvred onto it.

If it will not fit. A delivery that cannot be completed because of access is treated as a change-of-mind return, so the return cost falls to you. It is worth asking us first — email support@2ndstimearound.co.uk with the measurements and we will tell you honestly.
